The Over Thinker in Me

I woke up this morning thinking of things I wish I had handled differently. I do that sometimes; over think situations, sometimes even things from years gone by.

I apologized to someone the other day for something I had thought about until it made me nearly ill. It was silly really, and nothing most people would give a second thought to. But not this girl. Nope, for some odd reason, I have a brain that likes to think things to death!

When I brought up the subject to the person I felt the need to apologize to, she nearly wet herself laughing. The thing I felt regret over hadn’t even crossed her mind!

So, as I lay there this morning, over thinking things I probably shouldn’t, I was reminded by my Heavenly Counselor that there is always a next right thing.

In other words, rather than thinking about the things I would like to redo, I need to focus on the next proper or correct thing to do.

I’m sure thinking things to death in most situations is preferable to having no conscience at all. However, I know I need to find a happy medium.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Philippians 4:8 NASB

In praying about things I need guidance for, He reminds me to focus on what is just and true in the situation. Taking me out of the equation and focusing on the worthiness of a situation really does help.

Father in heaven, thank You so much for listening, even when I must frustrate You by going on and on about something I would like to go back and change. Thank You for grace, compassion and forgiveness. Please help me to focus on the next step rather than looking back. Your love never fails. In the matchless name of my Lord, Savior and Friend, amen.

Praying God’s best for you always.

In His embrace,

Toni
