Oh How I Love the Morning

Let me hear Your loving kindness in the morning; For I trust in You; Teach me the way in which I should walk; For to You I lift up my soul. Psalm 143:8 NASB

You may have heard it said; in order to develop your relationship with the Lord, make sure first thing in the morning, you have quiet time alone with the Him. As a young Christian, I too, heard this many times from well meaning Christians. I chalked it up to them being morning people, feeling I could have my quiet time with the Lord any time of the day. What was so special about the morning anyway?

As time went on and I began to grow in my faith, I noticed that if I did not begin my day with God, then He would easily be left out altogether. More times than I want to admit, I never found or made time to be with Him at all. I would feel guilty. I let God down, again. Slowly I began to realize that I was not only letting God down, I was letting myself down too. When I made it a priority to begin my day with Him, I found each day began in peace. But when I did not begin my day with the Lord, peace was much harder to come by.

This morning as I was having my quiet time with the Lord, it came to me that I really do cherish that time of day with my Savior. It truly is “quiet” time. No noise in the house; no television, no music, no voices other than mine and His. It has become precious time that I look forward to each morning. It’s like spiritual exercise for my soul. I feel like I’ve begun my day in the healthiest way possible.

This is not to say that you can not find your own special time with God. Quiet time in the morning sets up my day in a way that works for me. If I start my day with Him, I finish my day with Him, along with many special chats throughout the day. Pray without ceasing, becomes more of a reality, than a daunting request. Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Whether you are a morning person or not, I encourage you to find that very special time just for you and your Heavenly Father to have quiet, uninterrupted time together. I promise you will not be sorry. ☺

Heavenly Father, You know me best. You know my thoughts even before I speak. Thank You for giving me Your time, whether it be in the morning, afternoon, or evening. I love you so. In the matchless name of Jesus, amen.

All I can say is wow,,GOD totally spoke through you to me this day!! I have been struggling with this very thing and I know that it is best for me to spend that time with my Lord in the morning before everyone in the house gets up,,but for the past month or longer it has been a real struggle for me due to staying up late for one reason or another, or being awakend in the middle of the night by one of my kids being sick or having a nightmare or something, and when this happens I justify staying in the bed and getting all my sleep II feel like I need or I will be a crabby mess, but the truth be told if I don’t spend quality time with my GOD in the morning I am a crabby mess anyway and today I am convicted of the truth. Last night I woke up with the most terrible stomach pain ever and my husband had to rub me and pray over me, that was at 3am and by the time we both went back to sleep it was near 5am, it seems to always be something, so I know this is a spiritual battle and it won’t be easy but I need to be commited and determined to spend time with GOD or I cant make it!! I thank you for allowing GOD to use you in a mighty way today,,GOD BLESS YOU!! Hug…..

      Hi Monica,

So glad this post blessed and encouraged you. You are not alone in the daily struggle to make time for all we have to do. Even if you only have 5 minutes sometimes, do your best to get alone with God for those 5 minutes. I promise it will be worth it! The enemy of this world will always try to rob us of our time alone with God. That is the last thing he wants us to do. Remember, if he can’t make us bad, he’ll make us busy.
May the Lord richly bless your day.
      God bless you Monica!

    Toni:
As always, your words come at such a great time! I have to admit that I did not take the time this morning as I had planned, but I am going to begin each day forward with Him in the quiet of the morning. What a vitamin with which to begin my day. We can make excuses all day long, but we often have “more time” than we think. Keep ’em coming, Toni.
    Your newsletters are very calming!
    God Bless!
