Holy Week Is Over, What Now?

Holy Week Is Over, What Now?

On Thursday we felt sorrow for the unconscionable betrayal and unwarranted arrest.

On Friday we wept at the thought of His agonizing suffering and death.

On Saturday we mourned the loss of the One who willingly died to set us free.

On Sunday we rejoiced in knowing the stone had been rolled away! He has risen!

Holy week is over, what now?

Last week I, along with my husband and two of his sisters, witnessed my Mother-in-law, LaVerne Ryan, take her very last breath on this earth. She was frail from 90 years of living and more than ready to finally see her Savior face to face. It was a beautiful and inspirational moment of transition from this life to her heavenly home. It was a moment I shall not soon forget.

Most of LaVerne’s family credit her as being the one who led them to Jesus. Without her, they say, they may not have the assurance of knowing where she is now or that they will join her when they, too, take their very last breath.

LaVerne knew the what now of being a Christ follower. She knew, just as the disciples were instructed, it is up to us to carry on the mission of Jesus. It is up to us to live a life of lovingly directing others to the cross where grace and forgiveness abound, and a new life of purposeful living for the cause of Christ.

Though it’s been over 2000 years since the life, death, and resurrection of our Savior, the time is still now. As truly thankful followers of Jesus, we must not take for granted our eternal destiny. Let us not lock the doors of heaven behind us. There are so many more who need to know the love and grace of our Lord and Savior.

Please pray this prayer with me.

Father in heaven, thank You for making sure someone told me about Your Son. Thank You for the peace I have in knowing one day I will have a heavenly home. Please help me to not lock the doors of heaven behind me, but instead open them wide while inviting many to come into Your presence. Please help me to live a life that brings honor and glory to You. Oh Father, please teach me to lead others to the foot of the cross as someone once did for me. In the precious name of Jesus, my Lord, Savior, and Friend, amen.

May the Lord of all creation bless you and keep you in His tender loving care.

In His embrace,

Toni
