Thank You Colin Kaepernick

FreedomThank you for waking up the United States of America to hypocrisy; The hypocrisy of those who are blessed to live in, flawed though she may be, the greatest Country in the World, yet choose to display little to no respect for what they have been given.

Thank you for giving parents a new reason to talk to their children about the greatness of the United States of America and the sacrificial meaning of our National Anthem.

Thank you for reminding us of the importance and sincere obligation of showing respect and gratitude to those who have served and are currently serving in the greatest Military in the world!

Thank you for reminding us all why we stand and sing our National Anthem, at the top of our lungs, in respect of the greatness of this vast, wondrous,...

Writing Retreat Update

View from deck at Waubee

It’s a gorgeous Sunday morning at my Quiet Place. It’s the last day of my writing retreat weekend. For those who “liked”, commented, shared and prayed for my time alone with Jesus, to write and reflect, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing so. Knowing people, many total strangers, were praying for me was so encouraging. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Therefore encourage one another and build each other

up, just as in fact you are doing.

1 Thessalonians 5:11

As I write this I am sitting on the deck overlooking the lake. As is often the case, the last day is the most beautiful. You can see in the photo, the lake is calm and at rest from the last two days of on and off storms. Even the rain and wind did not detract from peaceful time with my Lord.

Some have asked wh...

A Quiet Place

A quiet place

May I ask for your prayers please? I’m on a journey. One, I believe, the Lord has been preparing me for for a very long time. Today is the day I am beginning to write the book I’ve had in my heart, and written on little notes, for several years. Raising Him Solo, But Never Alone is the title God gave me and I love it! It is exactly my journey in raising my son as a single mother.

Jesus was always with us. Through His love He brought many incredible men and women into our lives along the way. This book is about those who helped me raise my son, about our journey and about encouraging other single parents to know they are never alone when they have Jesus by their side.

I am on a weekend writing retreat to begin the process of penning my thoughts...

The Positive Social Sharing Experiment

I have a love/hate relationship with Social Media. I am thrilled to have a way to keep in touch with those I love in such a quick, easy fashion. Seeing adorable photo’s brings instant joy and often, oh how I miss them, tears. The hate part comes from all of the negativity right along side of the joy.

In my last article, I wrote of unfriending negativity. Not just with Social Media, but other aspects of life as well.

This article is intended to go a step further. It’s an invitation to start a new trend on all of Social Media of sharing nothing but joyful posts, opinions and photo’s. More in a moment…

I’m focusing on Facebook simply because it’s the one I use most often but, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and the like can be just as bad.

Facebook was started in 2004...

Unfriending Negativity

Someone asked me the other day if I had written anything pertaining to the hate crimes of late. She was in need of a little help in dealing with the negative posts on Facebook as well as conversations she didn’t want to be included in.

I completely understand how she feels. Even though there is tons of goodness in the world, it seems the bad news is all that’s focused on within the News Media and, quite often, on Social Media. Water cooler conversations can easily turn ugly when opinions take over where unity needs our focus. Family gatherings can get out of hand when certain topics are discussed.

In essentials unity, in opinions liberty, in all things love

Christian or not, good people usually want to bring more joy into the world rather than evil...
